Serie "No power of darkness"
This painting by contemporary artist Veronika von Kathen was created in 2022 and is part of the ‘No Power to Darkness’ series. This series is about the desire for a colourful, peaceful world without wars, hatred and violence. Every person portrayed in this series should become a hero of light.

Tree in the wind
The art motif ‘Tree in the Wind’ is a portrait of a non-real person, it symbolises a tree and is intended to promote discussion about the relationship between people and the environment. The tree, as a strong symbol, stands for growth, life, strength and protection. It connects the earth with the sky. Thus, for many people, there is also a connection between the human and the supernatural. Many people seek their final resting place under trees. Without trees, life is not possible, neither for humans nor for animals. Trees give animals a home. They provide us with shade and oxygen and are our most important supporters against climate change. Our friend, the tree, also urgently needs our help. We need areas where our trees can grow old again. They become contemporary witnesses and can tell their stories. They are often the trees under which our grandparents played, rested or made love.

Daydreaming about the green transformation
To become climate-neutral, everyone must change their lifestyle. So we can dream of adapting our appearance to climate change.

Unyielding
The picture shows a young woman who is unimpressed by hostility and attacks. Her personality is firm and she appears unbending

Overcoming barriers
We can overcome fears and barriers that prevent us from leading a happy, self-determined life and thus guarantee the right to free personal development. The black and white barriers shown here are already partially permeable and allow us to see into freedom.

No power of darkness 5
Our world has changed. Horrific news about wars are part of everyday life. Keine Macht der Finsternis 5 shows an anxious young woman who sees something terrible. In contrast to this is her colourfully painted face, which signals strength and joie de vivre.

The only possibility of an encounter
The artist was inspired to create this painting by women who confidently occupy a special place in our unstable, fluid society. Women who are admired and respected, but also envied, or exposed to attacks. Their wishes and dreams are often not recognised by those around them. The picture is intended to look at the viewer and thus become the focal point of the room.

In the web of thoughts
In my work I have captured the power and complexity of human emotions. The acrylic colours allow for a vivid depiction that combines realism and figurative elements. The portrait shows a fragmented perception, a reflection on our inner struggles and the fragility of our psyche. This painting will bring an intense energy to any room and encourage viewers to reflect on the depths of the human spirit.

Insight
The artist has men in mind who tend to present themselves in a special way in order to impress their surroundings in a way comparable to colourful birds. Fantasy and reality combine to create a portrait of a man who looks at the viewer in order to interact with him.

Wolf in sheep's clothing
Clothing, skin colour and hairstyles have the power to transform us. People can fall out of the norm through their choice of clothing and this can lead to social exclusion. How a person appears to other people depends, among other things, on their clothing or even their disguise. Even wearing a lace blanket as a head covering can influence the effect on others. A wolf can therefore also become a sheep.

Insight 3
The artist has men in mind who tend to present themselves in a special way in order to impress their surroundings in a similar way to colourful birds. With her painting, she wants to bring the idea of colourful birds closer to the viewer. From fantasy and reality, a portrait of a man emerges who looks at the viewer in order to interact with him.

The leading actor in his life
The roles we play in our lives can be many and varied. We can be the leading actor, but also the supporting actor. The picture shows an extroverted man who claims the leading role in his life. His outward appearance and the way he interacts with others inevitably places him at the centre of attention. The picture therefore also becomes the centre of a room.

Caught in a web of thoughts
In my artwork I mix living reality with the depth of inner feelings. The acrylic colours weave a web around the figure that represents the complexity of the human mind. Her intense eyes catch the viewer, while the sharp contrast and bright colour accents fill the space with energy. This painting is more than just a representation - it is an invitation to reflect on the shackles of our minds.

The power of the first encounter
The power of the first encounter can also be felt when looking at a picture. This image thus becomes the focal point of a room and invites us to interpret it individually.

Emotional ice age
Our world has changed. Issues of war and environmental damage dominate the news. Many people have experienced terrible things. Their emotions are frozen and they can neither laugh nor cry. The faux fur coat depicted is a symbol of the ice age.

Moss in the hair
The image of a self-confident woman is intended to look at the viewer and thus become the focal point of the room. She communicates with him non-verbally through the Victory sign and the message is: Victory, with dried moss in her hair as an expression of her closeness to nature.
